Congratulations to our Students of the Month!

The St. Peter Defenders focus on a building character each and every day. During the month of January, our focus was self-control Congratulations to the students who demonstrated this virtue throughout the month. Our focus in February is respect. Our students had an assembly Friday which reminded them that, “When you respect someone, you make sure they feel valued and cared for.” We know that respect is about so much more than that one line, so please continue the conversations at home about respect and what that looks like, sounds like and feels like in your home and in the community.

A Heavy-Hearted Congratulations is in Order

Mrs. Rocco-Coughlan has been with the school for almost 2 years now, and her fantastic work with our students has been noticed. In fact, she earned a full-time contract teaching with the school board. CONGRATULATIONS! Unfortunately, that means that Mrs. Rocco-Coughlan will be moving on rather abruptly. On Monday, she will transition the class to the new teacher, Ms. Arianne Schwab, and then begin her new role at St. Timothy CES on Tuesday. We are very excited for Mrs. Rocco-Coughlan, but at the same time, sad that she will be leaving the St. Peter community. We wish her well and we are confident she will make a real difference at her new school.

Ms. Schwab is really excited to take on the role and has experience entering a primary classroom part way through the year. In fact, Mr. Hunt worked with her at Holy Spirit and is confident that she will be a blessing to the St. Peter community and the grade 1/2 class. Welcome Ms. Schwab!

Valentine’s Day

St. Valentine was arrested and imprisoned upon being caught marrying Christian couples and otherwise aiding Christians who were at the time being persecuted by Claudius in Rome.  He was a martyr and died on Feb. 14th.  Symbols of love have been associated with this special day over time.  To participate in this FUN theme of LOVE – Please dress in Red, White and Pink for the day.

Called To Belong Opening Mass February 11th (TOMORROW) at 4PM~All are Welcome

Our spiritual theme for our pastoral plan is “Called to Belong.” The essence of belonging is acceptance and inclusion. It begins with welcome, but it takes work as a community to make sure everyone feels they are called to belong. This is important work happening at St. Peter, but also at all of our other Catholic Schools as well. We would love for you to attend the opening mass at 4PM at St. Anthony Daniel Parish in Kitchener to celebrate this important work. Our Grade 8s experienced the theme come alive during their Mt. Mary Retreat. We hope you can make it.
