Hi Defender Families,
It has been a busy February with several staffing changes and I am excited to let you know that everyone is now in place. I am excited at the wonderful gifts the three individuals will bring to our community and the positive difference they are already making in the lives of our student.
Most recently hired was Natalie Tassone. Natalie will be taking over for Mrs. Faria until the end of June. Natalie is excited to support our school We Team, Cross Country & Track and Field and also comes with experience working in several of our WCDSB Schools. We are excited to have her join us this week.
When Mrs. Monteiro had her beautiful baby girl, Jessica Koppers has been doing great things in the Grade 1/2 class. She is excited to lead our Eco-Team and comes with an extensive background in outdoor education. She has had several years experience in our WCDSB schools and we are grateful to have her on the team!
When Mr. Smart was promoted to VP, there were some big shoes to fill. This past month Chris Kapron has been making a huge difference in the grade 4/5 class and our greater Saint Peter Community. He is taking on leading our Healthy Schools Team and has started a Healthy Schools Cooking Club! This club will support our grade 6, 7 and 8 students who wish to learn how to cook for themselves as they enter the more independent teenage years. Prior to entering teaching, Chris has undergone training with a Chef and restaurant experience which will bring an authentic skill set to the club. We are lucky to have him as a part of the Saint Peter community!
Lastly, it was announced last week that all WCDSB schools were closed on Thursday. Just a reminder that Saint Peter will NOT be open to students on Thursday. The exception is for those students who are already registered in our extended day program.
