Safe Arrival Program
If your child is going to be absent from school please phone the school voice mail (519-621-5211) and leave your name, your child’s name, the teacher’s name, and the reason for absence. If we are not informed, we will call home to ensure each child’s safety. If we are unable to contact you, police may be called. Please advise the office of all your phone numbers and emergency contact numbers so we can quickly and easily contact you. If your numbers change, please let the office know as soon as possible.
All students are expected to be punctual and to adhere to school hours. We begin our day at 8:30 am and attendance is taken each morning and each afternoon at 12:15 (lunch ends). Students who must arrive late will report to the office and their time and reason for being late will be recorded and a late slip will be given. Persistent tardiness and absences may result in further actions perhaps involving parents/guardians and/or a school board attendance counselor intervention.
If you visit our school website https://stpeter.wcdsb.ca/, you can register your home email address and our monthly school newsletters, along with Cash Online and other notes and reminders throughout the year. They will automatically and conveniently be sent to your home email!

Halloween will be celebrated at school on Tuesday, October 31, 2017. Please remember that the goal of the day is to have fun and celebrate Hallowe’en. With that in mind, students are asked not to wear a costume with a weapon, a mask, or disguising or scary make-up.

Thanksgiving Food Drive will be held from October 2 to October 5, 2017. We are hoping to collect 500 items this year—2 items per student. Most needed items are Peanut Butter, canned meat and fish, pasta sauce, cereals, and the like. We will take anything that is donated. Classes are competing in The Great Turkey Race so make sure students get their items in this week.
Our school will be celebrating our Opening School Liturgy on Thursday October 5, 2017. Thank you to the Student Government and the Pastoral Team for organizing the Liturgy and providing students to read, sing and carry items in the processional.

Ten students from of our school community attended WE Day in Toronto on Thursday Sept. 28, 2017. Even though the bus had to be met at 5:45 am, they had an amazing day! We look forward to this group implementing some of the good works initiated there.
St. Peter School will once again offer the Nutrition for Learning Snack Program. Students will have healthy snacks available to them every day at school. Snacks are delivered to classes first thing every morning and students are encouraged to choose these snacks as a healthy alternative to some of the less healthy foods.
Families are encouraged to pack a healthy lunch for our students as well. We will continue to encourage eating fruits and vegetables, and we look forward to another February of Freggie Fridays.
Thank you to all parents who attended our first School Council Meeting on Tuesday September 27, 2017. We were pleased to appoint Peter Polaski and Bree Almeida to the position of Co-Chair. We look forward to their experience and fresh outlook.
We reviewed finances, discussed items that were purchased last year with money raised through the Pepperette Sales, the sale of pizza, and the shares we receive from OLG for our volunteer work at the Cambridge Bingo Centre. Our plans for trees and low play equipment on out yard are ongoing and expected to be completed in the next couple of months. We will be selling new Spirit Wear as soon as our “Defender” mascot comes in from the artist. If anyone is interested in becoming a Bingo volunteer, there is a short training workshop that needs to be completed please send an e-mail or call the school and we can get your name to them.
