Week 4 of Advent

As we light the final Advent Candle of love this Sunday, we will not do so together as a school family. However, on our own, we can remember the great love that we experience when we recall how much God loves us. In the Gospel of John we read:

And the Word became flesh and lived among us, and we have seen his glory, the glory as of a father’s only son, full of grace and truth.  (John testified to him and cried out, “This was he of whom I said, ‘He who comes after me ranks ahead of me because he was before me.’”) From his fullness we have all received, grace upon grace.

No matter how many gifts are under our tree when we wake up Christmas morning, we all are worthy of the greatest gift of all — God’s love and acceptance. Sometimes it is hard to accept complete and unconditional acceptance, but that is what God asks for us. He loves us just the way we are, and recognizes our true value. We are unique people and each of us is #CalledToBelong.

As you spend time together as a family, make each moment count. Remember that among the hustle and bustle is the invitation to accept love and enter a joy-filled space of peace. It is from there that we can draw upon our hope to meet the challenges ahead. 2020 may not be an easy road for some of us to travel. But we have each other and the continual acceptance of our Father.
