Hi Defender Families!

We have just 2 weeks left of the 2019/2020 school year! Where has the time gone? I am sure you will be able to answer that question quite well as you support your kids during this final stretch of distance learning. It has been quite a journey and we are almost there! Our staff is making final preparations on report cards this week as we look forward to welcoming you back to pick up your belongings on Tuesday, June 23rd and Thursday June 25th. All families have been assigned times and there is a very extensive protocol. Please ensure you adhere to the protocol and come to the building during your assigned window of time. If you need an accommodation because you are a frontline worker who has been scheduled to work during that timeslot, please reach out to Mr. Hunt for an alternate day/time.

The protocol can be found in the link below:

THE FINAL WEEK of Pom Pom Spirit Squad this FRIDAY at 10AM!

It was a lot of fun to see our students on our advertised route. This Friday (June 19th) route is below. We will leave the school at 10 AM. If you are not able to make it to the route, were not along a previous route and would like a visit from the Spirit Squad please reach out to Mr. Hunt by Friday June 19th. Now that we can do socially distant gatherings of up to 10 people, there should not be any issue with people getting to the route. BUT, we don’t want anyone to be left out. If you want us to visit and are unable to make it to the route, just let me know by email ( ej.hunt@wcdsb.ca ) We love staying connected with our families!

Congratulations Saint Peter Graduates!

Our Graduation Committee has being busy finalizing our plans to celebrate the Class of 2020! While working through the challenges of a pandemic and maintaining physical distance every step of the way, our team has been able to put together quite a celebration. The first part of the celebration was a congratulatory visit where we placed a lawn sign at each graduate’s home. The second phase of the celebration happened last week. Due to the shut down, our graduates lost out on the opportunity to have Graduation Photos taken. Fortunately, a highly talented photographer who also is an educator in a neighbouring district came to the school last week to shoot some photos. She provided our school a significant discount and allowed families to have family and sibling photos taken as well. All of the images that turn out belong to the families with no future cost to reproduce the images. If you are thinking of doing family photos over the summer and were wondering who our amazing Graduation Photographer was, her name is Amanda DeMelo and she can be found at AmandaSarahCherish Photography. She captured the images of our Valedictorians, Selam and Ryder, below.

The lawn sign pictures below were Mr. Hunt’s cell phone. I do not have a website you should visit :)…but I am VERY PROUD of our graduates. Lastly, our team is having a video professionally edited so our community can have watch parties the final week. Graduation will be watched on Wednesday, June 24th by the staff and graduating families, and then the link will be released to the community. If you feel like organizing a Watch Party for the Thursday or Friday to celebrate with a gathering that aligns with Ontario’s recommendations, please do. It is a great way to come together to celebrate our school and community.
